Working Knowledge Events
The key principle of all Working Knowledge Group events is to literally 'plunge' young people into intense simulations of the world of work. During the event they are fully submerged in an environment in which they develop employability skills such as business terminology, negotiation, teamwork, strategy, decision making, communication and commercial awareness.
All the events are based around teams of students adopting management roles and working together in a series of short workshops. The approach is entirely 'experience-centred', or 'learning by doing', and the facilitation style is coaching, allowing the students to direct the pace of the programme. Benefits of being an Expert
Past experts have reported that the benefits of being an expert include a great networking opportunity with other experts, developing links with college staff who are actively looking to build beneficial long-term relationships with the business community and an opportunity to see some of the top students in the region as potential employees.
These experts have been unanimous in reporting that their involvement in a Working Knowledge event was fulfilling, challenging but overall a very worthwhile experience and we hope to ensure that you will feel the same way once your day is complete.
Your Role as a Business Expert
Each of the teams that you will come into contact with is building a business strategy and it is your job to help them in your specialist area with your knowledge and experience, but also to assess their performance as they interact with you. You will see them in two environments -
business meetings and presentations.
